about
I wrote this song when I was between living situations this year. While I was running around town looking for an apartment and a roommate, I kept stumbling across these mattresses left out on the sidewalk. It was just the saddest thing. Somebody discarded it thinking another person would want it, but day by day these mattresses lose their shape and color. A rainy day is the final nail in the coffin. Nobody wants a wet mattress.
the plight of the soggy wet mattresses were pretty relate-able at the time.
lyrics
Soggy wet mattress
lying on the corner of the street.
Somebody discarded you,
and now your crying next to me.
I wonder if they wanted
a California king or a Tempurpedic,
but I know you don't want me no more.
I'm just a sponge, tattered up and warn.
Soggy wet mattress
I don't think I'm ready for the storm.
Soggy wet mattress
and I don't think I'm ever going home.
